Good morning Papillion

Morning coffee

When heading off to work this week, stop in at TriPointe Coffeehouse on 138 North Washington Street in downtown Papillion for your morning coffee.   This quaint little coffeehouse, right along the main thoroughfare running in and out of downtown Papillion, is a perfect spot to catch up on the news in the paper, hop on your laptop, or gather with friends for a chat.  There is ample street parking early in the morning.

Take your pick…

Have a seat at the wrought iron table outside and watch the world wake up, grab one of the hightop tables near the counter, or head to the back of the shop if you need a quiet space to hold a coffee meeting or pound out a presentation.  The coffeehouse is situated just down from boutique shops and a collection of other local businesses, so it’s a great option for a grab-and-go on the weekends too.  The menu features an assortment of brewed coffees and espressos, and specialty and blended drinks, as well as tea, fruit smoothies, and Italian sodas.

A little history

Chris Evenson, a native of Axtell, Nebraska, shared a bit about the history of the coffeehouse.  He and his wife, Heather, are the owners of TriPointe Coffeehouse.  Seven years ago, Ryan and Jessy Pretz, a couple they knew from their church, shared their vision with Chris and Heather of opening a coffeehouse as a place to gather and build community.  With the encouragement of Ryan and Jessy, Chris and Heather decided to embark on the adventure of building the business; they began checking out the options for space and were drawn to the historical vibe of Papillion’s downtown.

Meanwhile, Chris, pastor of TriPointe Church, was also looking to relocate the church, which draws congregants from Ralston, LaVista, and Papillion.  He saw an opportunity in the space to combine the church and the coffeehouse; zoning in the two downtown blocks where they sought to open presented a challenge to overcome, however.

Meeting and event space

Papillion’s zoning laws in the two-block area where TriPointe is located did not permit religious assembly.  The coffeehouse could, however, open its meeting space for use by anyone wishing to rent.  TriPointe Church happened to be one of those hopeful renters for space.  That is how Papillion’s sit-down coffeehouse came to also house Sunday worship in a sanctuary through a set of double doors across from the coffee counter.  All are welcome.  The coffeehouse’s event space can accommodate small groups and hosts events from business meetings to baby showers, as well as graduation and birthday parties.  Just call Chris and book your event.
