Diana’s Papillion Tea Shop, along the main stretch in downtown Papillion, is your cozy tea destination any time of year.

Fall makes piping-hot tea especially tempting as the autumn chill sets in and winter blows through Nebraska. Whether you reside in Papillion or further away in the greater Omaha metro area, Diana’s Papillion Tea Shop is one you must visit.  From the door to the decor, you’ll find this pretty shop appointed with quaint finishes to leave you feeling that you’ve escaped the hustle for a while.

The tea shop offers a wide selection of flavors to sip in the shop or at home with a book on a blustery fall or winter day.

Shop the seasonal flavors, such as Pumpkin Spice Chai, or venture beyond the staples with a mix of interesting and unusual blends.  The tea shop offers flavors to entice all tea enthusiasts – Herbal, Oolong, Green, White, Chai, Rooibos/Honeybush, and inclusions.  Inclusions are add-ins that enhance flavor and are believed to provide health benefits. The shop offers options such as Hibiscus, Ginger Root, Dandelion Root, Chamomile and Raspberry Leaf.

The staff will steep a cup for you at the counter, and you’ll find instructions printed on every bag so that you can make the perfect pot at home.  Be sure to get the gear you’ll need. My favorite way to infuse loose leaf tea is with tea tongs because I can stir and daydream while it steeps.  You could also try a tea ball or basket infuser if you prefer. The shop’s owner, Julie Ricceri, and her staff can help you select from all the essentials.

Take a few private moments in the back of the shop to indulge your olfactory senses and shop the assortment.  During my visit, I opened every sample jar to take in all the scents before selecting five flavors for purchase.  It was worth the ten minutes it took to explore the aromas – from bonfires to berries.

I bought a bag of the seasonal Pumpkin Spice Chai as a gift for my good friend; she is all about the chai.  We sat in the sun at her kitchen table one morning a few weeks ago, sipping the tea and nibbling pumpkin muffins.  It was two hours of much-needed girl talk about love, life, and work. We agreed, the Pumpkin Spice Chai was glorious and delightful and all you’d expect in a chai.

It is this aspect of tea that makes people around the world so fond of it.  It’s about the experience.  The first time I tasted my favorite tea, Jasmine, I was in Estes Park, Colorado.  It was fragrant bliss with a splash of milk, and it tasted of flowers, of course.  A mug of quality Jasmine tea is always a happy and heavenly affair.  Everyone needs a tea like that…agreed?

Diana’s Papillion Tea Shop’s leaves are available in larger bags (2-6 oz) or samplers (1 oz) that are ideal for gift-giving and stuffing the socks on the mantle.  Teas are available for purchase online at the link below.

The shop sells an assortment of items you will want in your pantry to serve tea at home or at the office, including mugs and cute kettles…perfect for a party of two!
